If you choose to join the optional tour, your experience will begin with a guided walk through the Gion district, starting in front of the Kyoto Ceramic Center (Detailed meeting instructions will be provided once your booking is confirmed.)
Return details
This tour concludes at Kodaiji Temple, where the Zen meditation is held. Admission to Kodaiji Temple is included with the tour. After the tour ends, you are free to explore the beautiful gardens, historic buildings, and tranquil bamboo forest at your own pace.

  • Kiyomizu-dera Temple
    Kiyomizu-dera Temple is the most popular place for tourists and a must visit when in Kyoto. Located on top of a mountain, it commands a panoramic view of Kyoto City. Because of its history and scenery, it is one of the few temples recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
  • Sannenzaka Ninenzaka
    Sannen-zaka and Ninen-zaka are charming stone-paved streets lined with souvenir shops and restaurants nestled in historic wooden buildings. Strolling through them feels like stepping back in time.
  • Hokan-ji Temple
    Yasaka Pagoda(Hokanji temple) is one of the oldest wooden structures in Japan. Its overwhelming scale makes it hard to believe that it was built without using nails. It is undoubtedly a symbol of Kyoto.
  • Yasaka Koshin-Do
    Yasaka Koshindo is a mysterious temple of unknown date of construction. The colorful decorations here are astonishing, as many temples are of subdued colors. The beauty of the colors makes it a popular photo spot for young people.
  • Tamukeyama Hachimangu Shrine
    Tamukeyama Hachimangu Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine located on the eastern side of Nara Park, near Todai-ji Temple. Founded in 749, it was built to enshrine Hachiman, the guardian deity of Todai-ji and its Great Buddha. The shrine has long been associated with samurai and warriors, as Hachiman is considered the god of war and protection. Surrounded by nature, it offers a peaceful atmosphere and is especially beautiful during autumn when the leaves change color.
