  • Historic City of Ayutthaya
Meeting point is in the arrival/departure hall of Ayutthaya train station. From there we start with our tour through the ancient city of Ayutthaya.
  • Wat Mahathat
Wat Mahathat was one of Ayutthaya’s most important temples. It enshrined Buddha relics and was the seat of the Supreme Patriarch of Buddhism and thus the center of Buddhism in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. When the Burmese invaded and largely destroyed Ayutthaya in 1767, Wat Mahathat was set on fire. One of the temple’s most photographed objects is the Buddha head entwined in the tree roots.
  • Wat Phra Sri Sanphet
The distinctive three chedis of Wat Phra Si Sanphet are one of the most famous sights in the ancient capital. It was the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace until the city was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. It was the grandest and most beautiful temple in the former capital.
  • Wihan Phra Mongkhon Bophit
This famous temple is situated next to Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Its large bronze seated Buddha image or Phra Mongkhon Bophit is one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand.
  • Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam)
Wat Lokayasutharam was a large temple located west of the royal palace. Most of the temple was leveled to the ground in the aftermath of the Burmese invasion. The most significant surviving relic of the old temple is a large reclining Buddha image. The image is around 40 meters long and 8 meters high. Although the image was once housed in its own chapel, that too was destroyed so now the Buddha sits in the open air.
  • Wat Chaiwatthanaram
One of the most visited temples in Ayutthaya, Wat Chaiwattanaram is located on the bank of the Chao Phraya river. The temple was ordered to built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother, featuring the architectural style influenced by Angkor temple in Cambodia. Its most unique feature is a large, central prang (Khmer-style pagoda) surrounded by smaller prangs, symbolizing Mount Sumeru, the gods' mountain according to Hindu belief.
