- From Nikola Tesla Plaza "Tesla Monument at Niagara Falls was unveiled on July 9, 2006. Tesla is standing on top of an AC motor, one of the 700 inventions he patented. In the background is Niagara Falls, the Canadian side. This remarkable achievement was made possible thanks to the wisdom and efforts of several groups and individuals, including the Tesla Committee, the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church at Niagara Falls, the Canadian Government, the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Niagara Falls Park Commission. In November 2019, the Niagara Parks Commission announced that the landscaped plaza surrounding the Bronze Tesla Statue would be named Nikola Tesla Plaza in response to requests from the Serbian School "Nikola Tesla" and the Canadian Tesla Museum." Niagara Parks Power StationThe first major power plant on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, the Niagara Parks Power Station was completed in 1905 to produce hydroelectricity by using the power of the Niagara River. Today, crossing the threshold into this imposing structure is much like stepping back in time. With original machinery still housed within, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in hands-on training exercises. See the thrust deck, brake deck and turbo deck as you hear about their use and the future of hydroelectricity going forward. At this point, your guide will say goodbye and hand out audio guides so you can explore the Power Station and Tailrace Tunnel at your own pace.
