  • The 2nd Session of AVNOJ, which was held in Jajce on November 29th 1943 had for it result the foundation of SFR Yugoslavia. The Jajce-born Yugoslavia was the socialist counterpart of the royal residence from the Middle Ages. At the same session a document was adopted to mark the completion of the establishment of the state authorities of Yugoslavia. The building was reconstructed in 1947 and 1953. The Museum was founded in 1953. The first permanent collection of the Museum was installed in 18th February 1959. In the course of the war (1992-1995) the Museum was exposed to significant damage, and its storerooms were plundered.
  • Catacomb of Jajce
Catacombs (underground church, the crypt) in the Jajce is located inside of city walls. Between the late 14th th and early 15th-century, when the town experienced a remarkable political and cultural development, the mighty bosnian duke Hrvoje Vukcic - Hrvatinić gave the order to build catacombs as a place of his last residence and last place of residence Hrvatinića ducal family. Catacombs (underground church, the crypt) is an underground building carved into the solid rock and is placed 6m under the earth. Under the decision of the Commission for National Monuments Protection of BiH, the monument is since 2003 proclaimed as national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
  • The Bear Tower Jajce (Bosnia and Herzegovina) was built in Romanesque style, and being so indicated that it is the one of earliest military structures from the Bosnian MIddle Ages. Thory of names is simple - due to its thickness of the walls which are reaching between 4.5 and 6 meters it was given such a name. Also there is mythical one which says that it was named so because it was place where bears fed on captives and convicts, who were kept there. Pretty amazing. Belfry St.Luke is the only surviving medieval tower in continental part of the Balkans, with height of 23,15 meters it was built in first half of XV century. The Tower of St.Luke in Jajce is actually the bell tower of the Gothic church of Holy Mary, although the whole church came to be called that name due to metonymony. Being built in first half of XV century, with characteristics of three different styles: Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance. The building of the church is not dated exactly, but it is assumed that it was erected at the site of an earlier Romanesque church at the beginning of XV century. The church was the place where the relics of St.Luke the Evangelist were enshrined. The relics were brought to Jajce by the last Bosnian Queen, Mara Jelena as her dowry.
  • Vrbas River
Until we reach Banjaluka we will admire the amazing beauty of Vrbas river canyon and once in Banjaluka we will do city walking tour. Structure of the city that is split in two by mighty river Vrbas is just a perfect reflection of fascinating BiH diversity, complex history and unbelievably beautiful nature that, together, make an essence of a truly unique country.
  • Banja Luka
We will do 1 hour walking tour of Banja Luka.
  • Jasenovac Memorial and Museum
As a last shortstop which could possibly be a highlight of today’s quite emotional trip we are taking you to notorious WWII extermination camp Jasenovac. Often referred as The Auschwitz of Balkans, Jasenovac extermination camp was one of the largest concentration camps in Europe which continued to operate even later in the SFR Yugoslavia. It was place of detention, forced labor and murder of enormous number of Serbs, Jews and Croats who rebelled over Ustase regime. We will check out camp from the outside (visits to the camp possible on request and with customized itinerary) and remind ourselves how racial and national exclusivity policies can be devastating.
