This special Viking and Swedish history tour will check out the historical highlights of Sweden's coolest and biggest places. You will get a big dose of Vikings, medieval history and visit some of our best-preserved historical areas and places. This tour includes areas from the Bronze age until today and goes out towards the Enköping area and not north of Stockholm. The focus will, however, be on the Viking Age and the turbulent medieval ages.

First, you visit the town Sigtuna for a city walk. Then you will move on to the invar runestone, which is one of the coolest pieces of evidence linked to a written story. This Viking runestone point's towards a saga told at the Swedish king's court in the 1200d and written down by a visiting Icelandic scholar where it got preserved to these days. You also pass by Håtuna royal farm where a dramatic power fight among the king and his two brothers was once held in the early medieval ages. Also, a visit to an Ingvar Runestone, passing by two massive Vendel era (pre-Viking age 550-800AD) grave mounds.

You then arrive at Biskips-Arnö, a center for politics and power during the medieval age. This isle was no less than the Swedish Archbishops summer isle back in the day. Today, it holds a magnificent cellar with gothic vaults and pillars that have survived until today.

You continue your journey through Swedish history to a medieval church painted by Albertus Pictur, Swedens most famous church painter that has decorated around 30 churches from 1460 until a bit into 1500.

You then arrive at Anundshög, one of Sweden's biggest and coolest assembly places, dominated by a big mound and bautastones. Hear about this place, the Viking Age, and the Viking assembly meetings.

On your way home, you will stop at Boglösa hällristningsområde, one of the biggest areas full of Swedish rock carvings from the bronze age.
