Overview
Hello! We are Pies Descalzos, originally from Xochimilco. We would love to share with you the richness of our town, starting with the gastronomy and the artificial islands designed for planting: the chinampas. We will travel by trajinera (big canoe) and tell you all about the history of Xochimilco. We will stop on an island to explain the ancestral cultivation technique developed in this place, unique in the world and part of the world's agricultural heritage. We will tell you about the flower, the fauna and we will take you to meet the axolotl.
Afterwards we will visit one of our favourite neighbourhoods for its bohemian atmosphere, Coyoacan. We will pass by Frida's house, enter one of our favourite museums in Mexico City where you can learn about the artistic expressions in Mexico, see the first church in Mexico, the house of La Malinche, the Palace of Cortes, the fountain of the coyotes, eat churros, ice cream and ancestral drinks.A tour for nature, culture and architecture lovers

Canales de XochimilcoWe will go to one of the most beautiful piers in Xochimilco, away from the tourist piers to enjoy the natural beauty of this place. We will take a trajinera ride and our guide will explain the incredible history of this place, we will stop on a floating island to learn about the chinampas, the unique ancestral cultivation system developed by the Xochimilcas and some of the plants that are grown here. Finally we will visit another floating island to see and learn from the axolotls.

We will arrive in Coyoacán to visit the first church built in Mexico in 1525 by the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés.

We will visit the house of La Malinche, home of the indigenous lover of the Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés, and we will learn the story of her love and betrayal of her homeland.

We will enter a small park dedicated to Frida Kahlo with sculptures of the painter and her husband Diego Rivera.

Museo Nacional de las Culturas PopularesWe will enter our favourite museum in Mexico City where you can appreciate artistic expressions of different cultures of the country, a must visit in Coyoacán.

We will visit Centenario Park and the Coyotes fountain, an icon of Coyoacán and a place where all Mexicans have gone for a walk, eat churros, ice cream and buy some handicrafts.

We will stop at one of our favourite shops for you to try some ancestral drinks such as tejate, pozol or chilate, and if you are looking for chocolate, cacao, mezcal and Mexican coffee this is the place to be!

We will visit the market to see the handicrafts, the fruit stalls, the typical food such as tostadas and the architecture of the place.

Museo Frida KahloWe will visit Frida Kahlo's house to learn a little about her history and the history of Diego Rivera and his influence on Mexican art and painting.
