Overview
Dyeing small pieces of silk with dyes from a dye store with a history of over 100 years, and then plucking (pinching) them, is an authentic hands-on workshop that is rare in Japan. This is a rare opportunity to experience both dyeing and pinching at the same time.
This is a rare experience where you can experience both dyeing and tsumatsubaiku at the same time.
It also includes a rare Japanese washi paper folding and dyeing experience.

This is an experience of “tsumazaiku”, a traditional Japanese craft handed down from the Edo period. The workshop is held in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, so it is easily accessible. Under professional guidance, you will fold and pinch small pieces of cloth dyed by yourself to create a beautiful flower-shaped brooch (originally a kanzashi; a hair ornament).
This is a rare and authentic experience in Japan, where small pieces of silk are dyed and then picked with dyes from a dye store with a history of over 100 years.
In this workshop, you will experience the same process as the craftsmen do. Yet it is a short workshop (about 2 hours) so that anyone can participate.
Process
(Dyeing)
You will choose one color of your choice and experience two types of dyeing: speckled dyeing and dip-dyeing.
(Pinch and glue)
Separate a silk cloth into small pieces, pinch and glue them together to make a flower brooch.
You can also experience folding and dyeing Japanese washi paper during this workshop.
