Visit a Japanese Tea Shop managed by a tea master whose lineage traces back to a 150-year-old tea business in Shizuoka Prefecture, the largest tea-producing region in Japan. This tea master holds the prestigious title of "Japanese Tea Instructor", the highest tea certification in Japan. Your experience will take place at Ito Ryokan, a traditional inn with over 70 years of history nestled in Nihonbashi Ningyocho, near Tokyo's heart.
By mastering the art of preparing Japanese tea, you'll be able to seamlessly weave this tradition into your everyday routine. With two types of beverages and two varieties of sweets, satisfaction is guaranteed.
Option 1: Matcha and Sweets Experience. This plan involves learning about and enjoying matcha tea prepared with a tea whisk. The session includes: a brief history of matcha, instructions on how to prepare it, and guidance on handling tea utensils. Demonstrations by the tea master, and participating in a tea ceremony. Option 2: Sencha Tea and Sweets Experience. This plan focuses on savoury sencha tea brewed in a teapot. An overview of the main ingredients of tea. Understanding the correlation between water temperature and tea flavour. Recipes for brewing tea. Instructions on handling a teapot. Demonstration by the tea master, and participating in a tea tasting. Menu: two varieties of sencha tea and two types of sweets.
