  • House of wonder
    House of Wonders (Beit al-Ajaib) is one of the most famous landmarks in Stone Town, Zanzibar. It was built in 1883 by Sultan Barghash and was the first building in Zanzibar to have electricity and an elevator. The building represents Omani–Zanzibari architecture and symbolizes Zanzibar’s rich history and culture.

    The Anglican Diocese of Zanzibar is one of the oldest dioceses of the Anglican Church in East Africa. Its origins date back to the mid-19th century during the period of British influence and missionary activity in East Africa. Missionary work in Zanzibar began in earnest with the arrival of the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in the 1840s. The missionaries focused on spreading Christianity, establishing schools, and providing medical services. The diocese was formally established in 1892, with its first bishop appointed to oversee both Zanzibar and parts of mainland East Africa.
