Once a high-security penal settlement, it now offers guided tours showcasing prison ruins and rich history. - Peel Island (Janday: Teerk Roo Ra) is a heritage-listed national park in Moreton Bay, about 4 km off Brisbane. Known for its sandy Horseshoe and Platypus Bays, rich wildlife—including turtles, dolphins, dugong—and historic ruins of a quarantine station and leper colony, it offers limited camping and water‑access only (pass by)
