  • Wat Chaiwatthanaram
Wat Chaiwatthanaram is one of the most impressive temples in Ayutthaya, built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong. The temple features a beautiful Khmer-style design, highlighted by a tall central prang symbolizing Mount Meru, the center of the universe in Buddhist cosmology. Surrounding the main tower are smaller prangs and galleries once filled with Buddha images, creating a grand and symmetrical layout. The temple was used for royal ceremonies before being damaged during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767. Today, its well-preserved ruins offer visitors a glimpse into the glory of the ancient kingdom, and it is especially popular for its breathtaking views at sunset.
  • Wat Mahathat
Wat Mahathat is one of the most important temples in the ancient city of Ayutthaya, believed to have been built in the 14th century during the early Ayutthaya Kingdom. The temple once served as a religious center and housed sacred relics of the Buddha. Today, it is best known for the famous Buddha head entwined in the roots of a banyan tree, a unique and iconic image of Thailand. Although much of the temple was destroyed during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, its atmospheric ruins and historical significance make it a must-visit site for travelers interested in Thai history and culture.
  • Wat Phra Sri Sanphet
Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the most important royal temple in the Ayutthaya Kingdom, built in the 15th century within the grounds of the former royal palace. Unlike other temples, it had no resident monks and was used exclusively for royal ceremonies. The temple is best known for its three iconic bell-shaped chedis, which housed the ashes of Ayutthaya kings. Although heavily damaged during the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, its elegant layout and historical importance make it one of the most impressive and must-visit landmarks in the ancient city.
  • Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Lokayasutharam)
Wat Lokayasutharam is a historic temple in Ayutthaya, best known for its massive Reclining Buddha statue, one of the largest in Thailand. The statue, measuring about 37 meters long, represents the Buddha in the moment of entering Nirvana. Draped in a bright saffron robe, it is a striking and peaceful sight that attracts visitors from around the world. Although much of the temple is in ruins today, its serene atmosphere and the impressive scale of the Reclining Buddha make it a memorable stop for those exploring Ayutthaya’s ancient sites.
  • Ayutthaya Historical Park
Ayutthaya is a historic city located about one hour north of Bangkok and was once the capital of the Kingdom of Siam from the 14th to 18th centuries. Known for its impressive temple ruins and rich cultural heritage, Ayutthaya is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can explore iconic landmarks, ancient palaces, and centuries-old Buddha statues that reflect the grandeur of the past. Today, Ayutthaya is a popular destination for day trips, offering a unique blend of history, architecture, and local life—perfect for travelers who want to experience Thailand beyond the modern city.
