The archaeological site of Copán was a City – State of an important Mayan kingdom between the 5th century and the 10th century with a strong link with Tikal of Guatemala. After its abandonment, it was rediscovered in 1570 by Diego García de Palacio, If in doubt, due to its characteristics, Copan does not overlook within the Mayan world. The remains of the city preserved by time suggest 3 important construction periods, specifically before the city was desolate.
