  • Dharavi
More than half of the citizens of Mumbai have to live in slums in order to survive in the costly mega city. “Dharavi”, has become a chosen spot for such dwellers and it hosts a whooping population of at least half a million. Many believe that tours to “Dharavi” become famous because of the success of the Oscar winning movie “Slumdog Millionaire”. Our local slum guide shall take you through the commercialized area of the slum where many small scale cottage units / recycling units operate. Especially scrap / industrial waste recycling is a big enterprise in Dharavi and the locals scavenge materials from all over the city. Discarded materials are brought upto the little workshops for cleaning, processing and recycling them, for example from old Aluminum cans to plastic chairs.
