  • Szell Kalman Statue
    We meet here at Széll Kalman Statue, next to the metro station, you will be greeted by our guides holding yellow umbrellas. See the minature statues made by Antal Plank of umbrella, snails, birds, skateboards and slugs. Hunt for the miniature statue of the cartoon goat repair man made by Kolodko Mihály Now hop on the tram with your guide to start to explore the hill of Budapest.
  • Travel on the stylish cogwheel railway founded in 1886 and on the heritage and classic carriages on this vintage line through the Svábhegy, a popular recreation destination for writers, actors, and artists, with stunning villas and the area is popular with hikers.
  • Start the journey here at the children's railway established as part of the pioneer movement, today children aged 8 to 14 years still run and work on the trains. It is a miniature train; one quarter of the size of a normal train, 11.7km long with 7 station stops. The train sweeps through the countryside, forests and villages.
  • Get off the train at Szépjuhászné, stop for photos of the pioneer movement statue.
  • Ruins of Budaszentlorinc Pauline Monastery
    Take a short hike to the Budaszentlőrinc Pauline Monastery. Learn about monastic life and Hungary's golden medieval period, how in 1527, after the battle of Mohacs the monastery fell victim to Ottoman destruction. Explore the surrounding pretty gardens of the National Forestry Association.
  • Also on display are numerous items from the past of the Children’s Railway. Among others, old tickets, uniforms, signalling lights and discs, timetables and brochures can be seen in the showcases. Giant models of the first railcars and the first passengers’ carriages are there as well. The railcars have been dismantled already but the carriages are still in operation on the line. We will also stop here for refreshments.
  • Visitors to this train yard run by children can get a glimpse of the difficult job the commitment and enthusiasm of young participants throughout the decades and the technical development that has taken place.
  • Visit this tiny hidden cemetery dedicated to a Hungarian solider and learn about the many other hidden graves littered across the hills and forests of Buda.

  • Get off the train here and now hike up the hill through the through the Frog Pod (Béka-Tó) Nature Reserve to the where you watch birds and search for other wildlife. IF you have children with you, there is a small children play park where is possible to break for a short period of time to allow children to play.
  • At 528 metres, leafy János-hegy (‘János Hill’) is the highest point in Budapest. Its summit is crowned by the ‘Elizabeth Lookout Tower’, named after revered Habsburg Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Built in 1910 according to a design by Frigyes Schulekvwho also designed the Fishermen’s Bastion. The double helix-step spiral staircase gives access to the upper tier of this wedding-cake construction, and its views stretching as far as the High Tatra mountains. Here you can visit the tower exhibition the guide will give a presentation on the history. We will also stop here for refreshments. (pass by)
  • We then descend through the Emléktábla Memorial Park, down to and through the unusual 18-meter-long double-entrance cave (Atjáró-barlang).
  • Stop here to take photos and enjoy the views from this lookout deck.
  • Float on the longest chair lift in Eastern Central Europe, traveling over the gardens and roof tops of the wealthy whilst seeing the most stunning views of Budapest and the surrounding countryside.
  • We finish the tour here, at the bottom of the chair lift where we will take photos at the memorial gate of the former Zugliget 58 tram, learn a little of its history and then take the bus back to Budapest.

  • We walk around 7km or 4 miles in total on this trip, we walk for between 5 and 20mins at a time, stop and then walk or use transport. You need to be able to walk up hill and use steps.
  • The chairs of the cableway are in motion during boarding and alighting, thus everyone can use the chairlift only at their own risk. When boarding, the passengers must lower the safety barrier of the chair to the full extent the and keep it lowered throughout the journey. When alighting, it is also the passenger, who has to lift the safety barrier. It is entirely the discretion of the chair lift operator as to if you will be allowed to ride.
  • Not recommended for travelers unable to walk 5km with ease. We walk along woodland park and garden paths, up and down hills and steps.
