Overview
Join a day trip to Pochampally, a town 40 km southeast of Hyderabad, which is famous for silk and cotton weavings.
The skillful designers of Pochampally create traditional geometric patterns in the Ikat style of dyeing. The geometric designs find their way into sarees and dress materials. About five thousand looms producing this textile in Pochampally. It even found a place in the UNESCO tentative list of world heritage sites as part of "iconic saree weaving clusters of India". Get to know more about the weaving technique of Ikat at the recently opened local art museum.
