Overview
Slip into a silk kimono and glide beneath Asakusa’s crimson Kaminarimon lantern toward incense-scented Senso-ji. Guided by a local, you’ll practice true shrine etiquette—ladle cleansing, coin offering, bell ringing, omikuji fortune—and discover the meaning behind each ritual. Between stops, sample Edo-style bites: charcoal-toasted senbei, sizzling tempura skewers, and matcha-filled taiyaki baked before your eyes. Every step, flavor, and gesture immerses you in living, traditional Japan far beyond the usual tourist trail.

AsakusaFirst, you will don a kimono—the traditional Japanese garment—at a kimono shop near Asakusa Station. There are many types of kimonos available, and you can choose your favorite pattern and color from a wide selection. Because kimonos have a complex structure and are difficult to put on by yourself, a professional dresser will assist you. While some vendors in Asakusa rent out cheap imitation kimonos for tourists, on our tour you will wear genuine, time-honored Japanese kimonos.
-
AsakusaPass through the Kaminarimon Gate and you’ll find Nakamise Shopping Street stretching straight ahead to the main hall of Sensō-ji Temple. Countless shops line both sides of this street, offering traditional Japanese sweets, souvenirs, and a variety of authentic wares. As we make our way toward the main hall, we stop to sample snacks and pick up mementos, all while soaking in the lively, old‑world atmosphere of this bustling thoroughfare. The scene feels as though you’ve stepped back to Edo-era Tokyo—over 200 years ago when samurai once walked these very streets.
-
Senso-ji TempleIf you walk all the way down Nakamise Street, you arrive at Sensō-ji’s main hall. This grand, elaborately designed building is truly awe‑inspiring. Here, you can try a variety of traditional rituals and cultural practices—draw a fortune slip called omikuji, waft yourself with incense smoke for blessings, offer prayers, and more—immersing yourself in the living heritage of Asakusa.
-
AsakusaOnce you’ve completed your visit to Sensō-ji, we’ll head out to sample Asakusa’s famed gourmet delights. Asakusa is renowned for its delicious cuisine, and thanks to its long history as a bustling gathering place, you can enjoy a wide variety of traditional Japanese dishes.
