Learn firsthand about Black History from a 5th generation South Sider in a 2.5-hour walking tour of Bronzeville and beyond.
Highlights of the tour include, Barack Obama’s home, Muhammad Ali’s home, Local murals and street art and Drinks!

The tour will begin at the DuSable Black History Museum, the longest running museum dedicated to the preservation and documentation of Black history and culture. After meeting there, we will tour historical sites of artists and activists who shaped what we recognize as the Black Metropolis of America—discover a side of Chicago that stands taller than the buildings of the Riverwalk.

Some things to note: The tour does not go inside the DuSable Black History Museum (but I encourage you to visit), Bring a camera or phone for photos. Come with questions (I am happy to tell you all I know)

Then we'll part ways at Muhammad Alis beautiful former home where you'll be with in walking distance of Hyde Park, a Nieghborhood full of restaurants, shopping and other attractions
We will conclude our tour at Chicago's oldest public library featuring stunning architecture with a greco-roman influence. The Library is an optional point to part ways where bathrooms and seating are available.

  • DuSable Museum of African American History
    Our tour starts meeting in front of DuSable Museum, Chicagos only African American Museum named after the first non-native person to settle in Chicago. This tour does not include a tour inside of the Museum but it is encouraged that you come early and view it before the tour.
  • Washington Park
    This massive park sits in front of the prestigious DuSable Museum features beautiful statues, sculptures and history that goes back to the 1800's
  • A highlight of this tour is a stop by President Obamas Chicago home in the Kenwood neighborhood which features beautiful brown and grey stone mansions that have been well preserved for over a hundred years. We will stop here to take pictures and talk about his historic presidential election as the nations first Black President.
  • Operation Rainbow PUSH National Headquarters, Dr. Kings Workshop was founded by Rev Jesse Jackson, a constituent of Dr. Martin Luther King. PUSH is a international human and civil rights organization known for its historic activism and advocacy spanning from the 1960's to today
  • Muhammad Ali's former home. Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee! Muhammad Ali bought this stunning mansion in Chicago to be closer to this to his spiritual mentor Elijah Muhammad after his decision to refuse to join military based on religious grounds
  • Blackstone, Chicago Public Library
    Our last destination is the Black Stone Branch, Chicago's oldest public library, boasting breathtaking Greco-Roman architecture and a rich history, ensuring an unforgettable conclusion to our tour.
