  • Playa de Sotavento
Fuerteventura should be translated in one word: beaches. The spectacular nature of Sotavento can be summed up simply: it is the most famous beach in the world. Beautiful beach surrounded by dunes with turquoise water. Its length alone, some nine kilometers, leaves visitors speechless. World famous for the annual kite and windsurfing championships … At low tide, the island gains so much ground that some even doubt whether it is the largest Canary Island. The constant sunshine, the enormous pools that form there and the endless golden sand make it deserve another synonym: paradise.
  • Playa De Ajuy
A Walk to the spectacular Ajuy caves, which are the oldest formations in the Canary Islands. They belong to the basal complex of Fuerteventura, created by the submarine flow of lava and sediment that rose to the surface and began to form the island 100 million years ago in the Cretaceous period. The rocks emerged from a depth of 3,000 metres and started to form the base that these days supports this island and that of Lanzarote. The caves are extremely important from a geological and paleontological perspective and are among the 150 sites of primary geological interest in the world. Visiting them means travelling back in time to the very origins of Fuerteventura and the Canary Islands themselves. Pierre: • Walk to Ajuy caves are one of these examples of nature. • If the weather conditions permit, we will also visit the caves on the west sea coast.
  • Betancuria Old Town
The oldest and first capital of Fuerteventura. Your guide will tell you all about it …
  • Ermita de la Pena Trail
The church is an 18th-century building built by agreement among the island's residents, who decided to build a new church in honor of their patron saint, the Virgin of Our Lady of the Rock. The church is a single-nave building with a hipped roof and a vestry attached to the gospel side, also with a hipped roof. Limestones are very present. If time allows we will visit the little church…
  • Mirador de las Penitas
AN other great Panoramic View on this daytrip. From the Las Peñitas viewpoint, in Betancuria, you will see an evocative view: a green oasis in the middle of the desert. The underground river that flows under the Las Peñitas ravine is created by human hands and forms a small lake dotted with native plants. The open esplanade of the viewpoint is the perfect place for taking quality photos. Home of the local inhabitants, the chipmunks.
  • Statue of the walker and his son at Mirador de Valle de las Cuevas with volcanic mountain lands. Your local multilingual guide will tell you all about the history and interesting facts… (pass by)
  • An area of great landscape value The protected landscape of Vallebrón is located between the towns of La Oliva and Puerto del Rosario, in the north of the island of Fuerteventura. It is a geomorphological entity that is representative of the island and of great landscape value. It covers an area of almost 1,680 hectares, which represents 3.5% of the protected area of the island. Vallebrón forms a landscape characterised by an elongated ridge with a knife-shaped relief, flanked by two large U-shaped ravines, Valle Largo and Valle Chico. The southernmost point of the ridge coincides with the Montaña de la Muda, a place of historical interest due to an archaeological site. To the southwest lies the town of Tindaya, which is bordered by the Montaña Quemada to the south and the Montaña de Tindaya to the north. (pass by)
  • The agricultural prison colony of Tefía was a concentration camp during the Franco dictatorship, located in the village of Tefía, belonging to the municipality of Puerto del Rosario. It was active between 1954 and 1966 and served for the incarceration of ordinary and political prisoners, and for the re-education of male homosexuals. Also the place where the first airport (1930) was and the first tourists arrived. (pass by)
  • The Sicasumbre Viewpoint, located about 300 meters above sea level, is one of the best sky-gazing spots on the island. The beauty of the area is perfectly combined with the facilities offered at the viewpoint, from information via signage to mounts so those who wish can comfortably use their cameras and telescopes. Pierre says: A panoramic & stunning viewpoint on clear cloudy free days. We will stop there if the weather conditions are favorable! (pass by)
  • The name of the town La Pared comes from a stone wall that crossed the town before the 15th century and divided Fuerteventura in two. It went from the town of Matas Blancas to the mountain Pasa si Podemos, near the current urbanization. So we had 2 guanches kingdoms namely Jandia & Maxorata. (pass by)
  • In addition to beaches, landscapes and gastronomy, there is much more to discover in Fuerteventura. The most extensive island in the archipelago has countless places with their own character, such as this picturesque village of TUINEJE with a rich history. Also known for its tomato cultivation and of course the series film Doctor Who. Also very famous for the fact that every month the camel market was held here and the heaviest battle in the history of Majorero. The battle against the English in the 19th century. (pass by)
  • Pájara is one of the oldest towns in Fuerteventura and was a very early settlement of Betancuria. It survived the complete destruction during the Arab invasion of 1593, when all of Betancuria was reduced to dust. The town takes its name from the hen pheasant, as seen on its coat of arms. See the sights along this beautiful route with explanations from our local guide. (pass by)
  • Mirador Guise y Ayose
One of the hotspots… incredible views from the North… The place of the statues of the Guanche brothers & last kings… We will stop there if the weather conditions are favorable!
  • We drive past the young capital(1862), actually through the center and along the most important port in Fuerteventura. We have a photo stop on the port and the lovely beach playa chica … If high tide we go to the natural swimming pool of the El Charco neighborhood in Puerto del Rosario!! The guide will of course also tell you the very interesting stories here. (pass by)
  • The windmills became a key element in Fuerteventura's landscape and in its inhabitants' lives. They were used to extract water as well as to mill grain, turning Fuerteventura into “the granary of the Canary Islands”. (pass by)
