Great SphinxThe Great Sphinx of Giza is a massive limestone statue located beside the Pyramids of Giza. It has the body of a lion and the head of a human, symbolizing strength and wisdom. Built around 2500 BCE, it is commonly believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. It measures about 73 meters (240 ft) long and 20 meters (66 ft) high, making it the largest monolithic statue in the world. The Sphinx likely served as a guardian figure, protecting the pyramid complex. Its missing nose is often surrounded by myths, but historical evidence suggests it was damaged centuries ago by erosion or human action. Over time, the statue was repeatedly buried by sand and later excavated and restored. The Great Sphinx remains one of the most mysterious and iconic monuments of ancient Egypt.

The Pyramids Of GizaThe Pyramids of Giza are a group of ancient monumental tombs located near Cairo, Egypt, built around 2600–2500 BCE during the Old Kingdom. There are three main pyramids: Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) – the largest, originally about 146 meters (481 ft) tall and the only surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. Pyramid of Khafre – slightly smaller, appears taller because it sits on higher ground. Pyramid of Menkaure – the smallest of the three. They were built as royal tombs for pharaohs and aligned with remarkable astronomical precision. Construction involved millions of limestone blocks, moved using ramps, sleds, and coordinated labor—likely skilled workers, not slaves. The site also includes smaller pyramids, temples, causeways, and the Great Sphinx, which is believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. They remain a powerful symbol of ancient Egyptian engineering, religion, and belief in the afterlife.
