Kelleys Island State ParkWe start at the Kelleys Island State Park Kayak launch, with beautiful views of the North Bay, the beach and rock pier. After getting comfortable in the kayaks we paddle out of the bay and around to the North shore.

Kelleys Island State ParkAfter leaving North Bay, we paddle along the beautiful North shore line for about 15 minutes to the Alvar State Preserve. Here we stop and explore this rare habitat finding fossils and glacial erratics while learning about island history. We board the kayaks again and paddle to our next adventure.

North Pond State Nature PreserveAfter we paddle across the bay we land on this beach to explore this all together different and unique habitat of North Pond. This rare lake embayment pond and barrier beach is a fascinating preserve and another quick rest break. Wild life viewings throughout the trip are frequent.
