In the first hour of our wine class, we will delve into Campania's terroir and understand how its geography, climate and soils influence the wines produced in the region. Campania is home to a variety of winemaking areas, including the famous volcanic soils of Vesuvius, the fertile plains of Caserta, and the rugged hills of Avellino and Benevento. We will explore the characteristics of each subregion and how they contribute to the unique flavors and aromas of Campania wines.
We will also discuss the native grape varieties that thrive in Campania, such as Aglianico, Fiano, Greco di Tufo and Falanghina. We will learn their historical significance, their unique profiles and the winemaking techniques used to bring out their best qualities.
