- Set sail from the Old Venetian Harbour of Heraklion towards Dia island onboard a luxurious, air conditioned, 16.15 m (53 ft) sailboat, the largest, safest, and most comfortable in Heraklion Port. The boat is expansively renovated in 2023. Make use of the different areas on the boat, such as the oversized front deck, equipped with high quality sunbathing mattresses, and the stern swimming & entertainment area, consisting of the spacious cockpit and the extensive swimming platform. Enjoy the roomy main lounge and the fully equipped galley. For Day Cruises 2 electric toilets and 2 cabins are available (including clean bed linen and towels) in case you wish to rest or have a nap. Dia is an uninhabited, Natura 2000 protected, island. It is located about 6 nautical miles north of Heraklion with crystalline waters, wild scenery and spectacular, wind protected coves. The legend says that it was a monster created by Zeus to destroy the Cretans. Eventually Zeus changed his mind and turned it into a stone. During the Minoan era the island was inhabited. Near Agios Georgios bay a significant harbour settlement was established. The harbour appeared to have sunk due to the eruption of Santorini volcano (1450 BC). You may still see the ruins while snorkeling around the place. Nowadays, the island hosts many wildlife species such as rabbits, kri-kri goats and hawks.

- The castle was first fortified by the Arabs in the 9th or 10th centuries. In 1303, it was destroyed in an earthquake but was rebuilt. In 1523, during the Venetian occupation, the Byzantine castle was demolished, and the Castello a Mare was built instead. In 1630, the fortress was armed with 43 cannons. After a 21-year long Siege of Candia, the Ottomans eventually took the fort in 1669. (pass by)
