- Set sail from the Old Venetian Harbour of Heraklion towards Dia island onboard one of our two luxurious sailboats, TREATON or JACKPOT, two of the largest, safest, and most comfortable boats in the Heraklion Port. Both boats are expansively renovated in 2024. Make use of the different areas on the boats, such as the oversized front decks, equipped with high quality sunbathing mattresses, and the stern swimming & entertainment areas, consisting of the spacious cockpits and the extensive, opening swimming platforms. Sailing In Cretan and Aegean SeaYou're welcome to take part in the sailing procedure, learn basic skills from the captain or simply relax and marvel some amazing views of Heraklion while sailing the Cretan sea. There is always a chance to meet dolphins while sailing !! At Dia island you will have the chance to swim, fish, snorkel, or try out stand-up paddleboarding, in gorgeous turquoise waters, and take in views of the secluded island. Enjoy this unmatchable experience in a deluxe, classy setting.

Dia is an uninhabited, Natura 2000 protected, island. It is located about 6 nautical miles north of Heraklion with crystalline waters, wild scenery and spectacular, wind protected coves. The legend says that it was a monster created by Zeus to destroy the Cretans. Eventually Zeus changed his mind and turned it into a stone. During the Minoan era the island was inhabited. Near Agios Georgios bay a significant harbour settlement was established. The harbour appeared to have sunk due to the eruption of Santorini volcano (1450 BC). You may still see the ruins while snorkeling around the place. Nowadays, the island hosts many wildlife species such as rabbits, kri-kri goats and hawks.

- The castle was first fortified by the Arabs in the 9th or 10th centuries. In 1303, it was destroyed in an earthquake but was rebuilt. In 1523, during the Venetian occupation, the Byzantine castle was demolished, and the Castello a Mare was built instead. In 1630, the fortress was armed with 43 cannons. After a 21-year long Siege of Candia, the Ottomans eventually took the fort in 1669. (pass by)
