Mahabaleshwar nature and colonial heritage tour from Pune
Overview
Experience nature’s bliss as you proceed to visit the serene hill station of Mahabaleshwar. Like most other hill stations in India, Mahabaleshwar also has a colonial past. In 1828, Sir John Malcolm, chose this place as the site for the official sanatorium, and thereafter, Mahabaleshwar caught the fancy of other Britons. Later on many buildings came up. These include heritage structures such as Holy Christ Church, Frere Hall, and the Governor House. Now, all these places are sightseeing attractions. You will also visit Elphinstone Point and Arthur’s Seat. The Konkan Coast and the distant sea can be seen, provided there are no clouds. Another popular attraction is a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. Legend goes that it’s built at the site of Panchgani, the origin of five rivers. There is a natural Shivalinga and a small tank at the temple. While in Mahabaleshwar, you may want to pick strawberries, mulberries and raspberries from berry farms.
