FORTICA: One of the best things to do is visit Fortica, the hilltop fortress above town, about a 15-minute uphill walk from the center or a short taxi ride away, although we recommend walking if you can; at the top, you get the most famous panoramic view of Hvar Town and the Pakleni Islands. LUNCH: Mediterraneo is a great value-for-money choice, Gariful is the best-known upscale fish restaurant, and if you prefer a casual modern bite with a Mexican twist, Let’s Taco ’Bout Hvar is a fun option. COFFEE: After that, the best plan is simply to sit down for a drink, enjoy the waterfront atmosphere, and wander through Hvar’s small stone streets and local kalas, because this is the kind of town best enjoyed slowly.
