The tour begins by passing through Bokeška Street, the most vibrant street of the city, where we briefly stop at the monument to Marko Miljanov Popović, the second mayor of Podgorica, but also a famous Montenegrin writer and duke from the 19th century. We continue our walk passing popular Podgorica cafes and restaurants on the right, while on the left you will see the buildings of the Podgorica Municipality and the National Theater.
-
Millennium BridgePassing through Njegoš's Park, you reach the Moscow Bridge, from where you can enjoy the most beautiful view of the impressive Millennium Bridge and the Morača River below it. We stop at the monument to Vladimir Vysotsky, a famous Russian actor, poet, singer and writer, which is located on the other side of the river. At that place, the guide will tell you a short story about the bridge, as well as the link between Vladimir Vysotsky and Podgorica.
-
Saborni Hram Hristovog VaskrsenjaAfter a 15-minute walk through a relatively new part of the city, which developed in the second half of the last century, you will reach the largest Orthodox temple in Montenegro, Temple of Christ's Resurrection. Take the time to experience the beauty and monumentality of this impressive sacred building.
-
Centre of Contemporary Art at Petrovic PalacePassing through the business district, where the headquarters of some of the largest Montenegrin companies are located, you reach the charming complex of the Petrović Castle, which will welcome you with its thick shade and the atmosphere of some bygone era. Once it was the winter residence of the last Montenegrin king Nikola I Petrović, today it houses the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montenegro.
-
SastavciLeaving the Petrović Castle complex, you will pass the Sports Center Morača, the largest sports hall in Montenegro, which is the epicenter of Montenegrin sport, and at the same time a representative example of Montenegrin architecture from the late 70s of the last century. By crossing the Blažo Jovanović Bridge you will return to the left bank of the Morača River, after which you will descend the stairs to the "jungle" in the center of the city, the legendary Sastavci. Sastavci (or Skaline) is the place where the history of today's Podgorica began, where you will cross the oldest bridge in the town, which is supposed to date back to Roman times. Situated at the confluence of the Morača and Ribnica rivers, it offers visitors a tranquil oasis where lush greenery meets the gentle flow of water.
-
Starodoganjska MosqueYou leave Sastavci behind and climb to Stara Varoš, the heart and soul of Podgorica. Here, the ancient cobbled paths lead you through centuries of history, from Ottoman rule to Montenegrin independence. This is the ideal place to feel the authentic atmosphere of old Podgorica. On your way through Stara Varoš, you will pass by the Starodoganjska Mosque, the oldest mosque in the city, which dates back to the 15th century and is witness to the rich Islamic heritage in Podgorica. Optionally, near the mosque, in a cafe located in an authentic Old Podgorica house, you can try typical local coffee, natural juices and traditional local cakes.
-
Clock TowerAt the end of the walk through Stara Varoš, you will be greeted by Sahat kula, the iconic clock tower from the 17th century stands as a symbol of Podgorica's resilience and endurance. It is one of the rare buildings in Podgorica that survived both world wars, so it is not difficult to understand why it is considered the most recognizable symbol of the city.
-
King Nikola MonumentBefore returning to the main square, you will take a short walk along the main city boulevard, to the monument to King Nikola I Petrović, the last and longest-serving Montenegrin ruler, which is located right across from the Montenegrin Parliament building. Upon returning to the main square, the guide can give you a recommendation for a cafe or restaurant according to your preferences, and if you want to learn even more about the city, he/she can accompany you to the City Museum of Podgorica, which is only a 5-minute walk from the main square.
