Departure time from Cartagena will be set between 6 am to 1 pm. The airfield is 93 kms/58 miles north of Cartagena (1.5 hr drive) and 132 kms/82 miles (2.5 hr drive) south of Santa Marta. After the technical briefing, you proceed to the hangar and board the Cessna 180.
You will climb for 20 minutes until reaching 10,000 feet with the Caribbean ocean and beaches way down below you, and up north the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta near the Caribbean coast. It is the highest coastal mountain range in the world, with several peaks exceeding 5,000 meters in elevation, an imposing and splendorous sight!
Then the instructor gives you the commands as described in the technical briefing and out the door you go! Free fall is 35 exhilarating seconds, then the instructor deploys the canopy and you begin your sightseeing flight to the beach, you can even fly the canopy for a while, the instructor will give you the commands and teach you how to do some basic turns and maneuvers.
Finally, you touch the ground on the beach, with a smile on your face that will stick for hours from the adrenaline.
A few days later you will receive your included GoPro video for you to share and forever remember!
