Kažuns are traditional stone structures found in Istria, particularly abundant around the town of Vodnjan, where they are most numerous. These small stone huts were used as shelters by farmers, peasants, and shepherds while working in the fields. They are characterized by their simple yet effective design, allowing construction without the use of mortar, solely employing the dry-stone wall technique.

The Fortress San Benedetto is unique for its fortification role within the defense system of Pula, built at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, specifically between 1898 and 1903. Its characteristic location above the San Benedetto coves, at an elevation of 11 meters, provides a strategically important view and dominance over the coast. This fortress was constructed using traditional techniques, with the addition of a defensive trench dug into the living rock, offering it extra protection.
