Stargazing on Cies Islands by Sailingboat
Overview
The Cies Islands are recognized as a “Starlight Destination” due to their minimal light pollution, unique location, and excellent geographical conditions. These factors make it the perfect destination for stargazing. The goal of this activity is to bring the cosmos closer to you through a guided tour of this gem of the Atlantic, combining both land and sea experiences.
This experience begins late in the day, sailing at sunset along the beautiful Vigo estuary as you approach the archipelago of the Parque Nacional Marítimo-Terrestre das Illas Atlánticas de Galicia, a unique spectacle!
As night falls, the starlight adventure begins. Depending on the considerations of the astronomical guide and the skipper, the local provider will set off on one of two possible routes:
Near the beach of San Martiño (the south island) or to the beach of Rodas (the main islands).
- For the first route, the astronomical guide will educate and enthral stargazers from the boat as there is no dock to disembark
- For the second route, we will disembark at the Rodas dock and the guide will lead you to one of the best viewing spots, such as the Alto del Príncipe
Finally, you will return to port as we sail under the starry night sky.
