The meeting point is JR Takatsuki Station, conveniently located between Kyoto and Osaka. It’s just a 15-minute train ride from either city, making it easy for participants coming from both directions.
First, you’ll get a brief introduction to the history of Taiko and its importance in Japanese culture.
Next, you’ll have the chance to write your wishes in Kanji (Japanese characters) on a Hachimaki, a traditional Japanese headband.
Then, enjoy a powerful Taiko performance by a professional drummer.
After that, a friendly instructor will teach you the basic movements and techniques of Taiko drumming.
Finally, you’ll play a simple piece of music with your fellow participants. The experience wraps up with a commemorative photo in traditional Japanese attire, including a happi coat, taraditional Japanese Kimono and hachimaki, traditional headband.
