Through the exhibition of stories, anecdotes and legends, the hiker will be led into a hidden, mysterious and often forgotten world.
We will find out:
-an ancient ruin in which, during the Second World War, some Rocchettani went to take refuge;
-a rocky wall that hosts birds of prey and passerines;
-an ancient rock church (Madonna delle Grotte) in which some Benedictine hermits lived;
-an archaeological site (Grotte Reali) attesting to the presence of hominid communities in the Volturno Valley.

In hidden and often forgotten places, inside caves or near rocks, huts were built in silence and in the wake of the wind, monasteries for travelers in search of true love, turrets hung in the unbridgeable void of conflict with the outside , groups of displaced people who during the Second World War could not eat even a breath. In the territory of the Alto Volturno the rock has been for many souls a sweet shelter and useful defense in periods of absolute fear and disillusionment, tiredness and then redemption. It gave hope, relief and allowed to shed a new light on the path.
In this itinerary we will discover how the rock has protected and welcomed, over the centuries, animals, plants and men who have lived and live in the upper Volturno valley.
