While you're more likely to find designer clothes and accessories than quaint local shops or trendy cafes, Ginza also has a touch of old-school charm. Originally part of the downtown area of Edo (old Tokyo), Ginza retains some historical elegance. It was named after a silver mint that once operated there, and its legacy as a posh area continues to this day. Notable features include its impressive modern architecture and the famous Ginza Six shopping complex.
