Wonder Women musical tribute by L'Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar
Overview
L'Arpeggiata and Christina Pluhar present "Wonder Women". This is a project celebrating women who are talented in music from across history. This performance celebrates the female composers of the 17th century who are often forgotten, and is inspired by traditional music from South America and Italy.
The programme features works by Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini, Isabella Leonarda, and Antonia Bembo, showcasing the talent of these historical figures. It also includes folk songs about extraordinary women. These songs tell stories about the women's strength, bravery and sadness. One of the best songs is "La Bruja" (The Witch), a song from Mexico that represents women's freedom throughout history and across cultures.
This musical journey lets you experience the different talents and stories of women from the past, mixing. "Wonder Women" is a great way to learn about the work of female musicians and composers, both in the past and today.
