- The background to the 1066 conflict and why Emma of Normandy is the lynchpin character.
- Why there were 4 contendors for the English throne in 1066 and how the actions of each led to 1066 seeing 4 Kings, 3 battles and 2 invasions.
- How the Battle of Hastings unfolded hour by hour and the tactics used by each side.
- What happened after William won the Battle of Hastings.
You will:
- Stand on the acknowledged position of the Anglo-Saxon shield wall
- Walk the perimeter of the battlefield (weather permitting)
- View the place where King Harold was killed
- View the Abbey ruins
Customizable:
10am start time can be changed to - any time between 9.30am and 11am
Mobility - The battlefield permeter walk is unsuitable for wheelchair users (details of the battle explained overlooking the battlefield)

Meeting point
If travelling by train you will be met outside the station exit.
If travelling by car, follow the A21 then the A2100. Battle Abbey is clearly signposted. The Abbey has a pay and display carpark.
Return details
The tour ends inside the Abbey leaving you free to further explore the exhibits and grounds independently.
