It is a quiet village where locals continue their everyday life without being interrupted by a crowd of tourists as it happens in the capital.Near Ano Mera lies the monastery of Panagia Tourliani whose main church houses a superb collection of icons made by a Cretan painter as well as holy vessels and vestments. The beautiful bell tower and marble fountain lie in the courtyard and are worth seeing.
