A cheaper alternative than Oia, Imerovigli is definitely a must-see, especially if you want to chase the sunset without the crowds.»

Consisting of traditional houses built around the Venetian castle, it is adorned with meandering alleys that follow the natural flow of the area. Nearby, the whitewashed Timiou Stavro church is topped by distinctive blue domes. A trail leads up Mesa Vouno, a rugged mountain with views over the Aegean Sea. At the top is the site of Ancient Thira, with Hellenistic ruins including a temple and a theater.
