Just 90 minutes south of Kuala Lumpur lies Malacca, where five centuries of Portuguese, Dutch, British, and Japanese rule left an extraordinary layered heritage. This full-day private tour brings it all to life through a guided walk across one of Malaysia's most storied UNESCO World Heritage cities.
Begin at Dutch Square, anchored by the distinctive pink Stadthuys (entrance included), then explore the Red Church and Queen Victoria Fountain. The Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, Malaysia's oldest functioning Chinese temple founded in 1645, practises Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism under one roof. At Porta de Santiago, the ruins of La Formosa and St. Paul's Church recall the era of spice traders.
A local lunch is included before the final stretch along Jonker Street, lined with antique shops, cafes, and souvenir stalls.

Red Square (Dutch Square)Travelers are welcomed by an English-speaking driver-cum-guide (supplements apply for a private guide) who warmly greets you at your downtown Kuala Lumpur hotel. We may encounter some traffic in the morning, but within no time, your driver will head southbound towards Malacca as he/she will explain of what may come while you enjoy the view of the local side of the country. Depending on traffic conditions, the drive will take approximately 1.5 hours before we reach Malaysia’s former port and trading post along the shores of the Malacca Strait. One of the most recognized sites in Malacca is the Dutch Square with its characteristic, pink-coloured Stadthuys, a reminder of the Dutch colonial influences, and one of the main reasons Malacca received UNESCO protection in 2008.

Cheng Hoon Teng TempleThe nearby Red Church with the still-functioning clock tower and the Queen Victoria Fountain offer plenty of photography moments to keep visual mementoes of this day out before we continue to see the Cheng Hoon Teng, the oldest functioning Chinese temple in the whole country. Founded in 1645, this spiritual centre practices the three doctrinal systems, namely Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism.

Jonker StreetAmple time to take in the history and get a panoramic view over Malacca at the see before heading out to our local lunch address for a taste of Malacca. We end the day with strolling through Jonker Street, the most famous street in the whole town. One will find plenty of small cafes and restaurants alongside numerous shops selling antiques and souvenirs before heading back to Kuala Lumpur.
