You will be picked up from your hotel in Hambantota or Hambantota Port and driven to Udawalawe National Park.
Upon arrival, embark on an exciting game drive through Udawalawe, a protected sanctuary established to safeguard wildlife displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir. The park is especially renowned for its large population of Sri Lankan elephants, often seen roaming freely across its open landscapes.
After completing the safari, you will proceed to visit the Elephant Transit Home.
The Elephant Transit Home – “Ath Athuru Sevana” is a government-managed facility located in Udawalawe, dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of orphaned, abandoned, injured, or sick baby elephants found in the wild. These young elephants receive proper treatment and care until they are strong and independent enough to be released back into their natural habitat.
One of the highlights of the visit is witnessing the feeding time, a truly memorable and heartwarming experience as the elephants are fed in a natural, non-intrusive setting.
