The name "Maungawhau" is Māori, meaning "mountain of the whau tree," referring to the local whau trees that once grew in the area. The cone is part of the Auckland volcanic field, and its crater is a key feature of the site.
  • Drive through Auckland Domain, its one of the city's oldest and largest public parks It's a lush, expansive space that serves as a hub for outdoor activities, relaxation, and cultural events. The park covers about 75 hectares (around 185 acres) and is set in an area that was originally a volcanic crater, known as the "Pukekawa" crater. Drive by Auckland War Memorial Museum: Located at the highest point of the Domain, this Museum is a major cultural and historical landmark. In Auckland, Savage Memorial Park is a notable tribute to his legacy. The Michael Joseph Savage Memorial is located within this park on the slopes of Mt. Victoria in the suburb of Devonport. It’s a peaceful, landscaped area with stunning views of Auckland Harbour and the city.
