- Situated at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, Mamula Island—formerly known as Lastavica—is a small circular isle, just 200 meters across. Dominated by an imposing mid-19th-century fortress built by Austro-Hungarian General Lazar Mamula, this historic structure was strategically designed to guard the bay from enemy intrusion. Though we won’t stop here, you’ll enjoy a scenic view of this fascinating landmark as we pass by on the water. (pass by)
