The Cacaxtla Archeological SiteSe visita la zona arqueológica de Cacaxtla: conocerás las ruinas y pirámides que nos describen la larga ocupación y el mayor esplendor sostenido entre los años 650 a 900 D.C. por parte de las etnias Olmecas-Xicalancas ocupantes de la zona de Cacaxtla. Entre sus vestigios destaca el Gran Basamento, un gran complejo arquitectónico de estructuras superpuestas y adosadas que presentan sofisticadas pinturas murales, únicas en su clase, en los llamados Templo de Venus, Templo Rojo, Mural de la Batalla y Pórtico A. Debido a la necesidad de proteger las valiosas pinturas, en la década de 1980 se colocó una amplia techumbre de alrededor de 10,000 m2 sobre la sección medular del Gran Basamento.
