  • Thailandbiking - Bangkok Branch
At our office/lounge we have a a small briefing before jumping on our bicycles and start the adventure.
  • We cross the Chao Praya river under this huge bridge to get to the other side of the river and brings us to the Green lung of Bangkok
  • Chao Phraya River
Like all urban rivers, the history of the Chao Phraya is intertwined with the city it flows through. The original site was chosen by early settlers because of its fertility and abundant fish. Later King Taksin, after the fall of Ayutthaya to the Burmese, located his new capital here, on the western banks today known as Thonburi. In 1782 King Rama I, finding the eastern banks more favourable, founded modern Bangkok and celebrated the occasion by building some of the world's most beguiling temples. Later still the canals it feeds became famous, earning Bangkok its 'Venice of the East' epithet. And, meanwhile, eminent Western authors like Maugham, Conrad and Coward were singling out the Chao Phraya as one of their favourite spots in the Far East. We will cross this river twice by long-tail boat.
  • Lat Pho Park
Here is the pier we arrive at Bangkrachao, or the green Lung of Bangkok.
  • Bang Krachao island is a green oasis right in the heart of Bangkok. This urban jungle is actually visible from the higher floors of many apartment blocks along Sukhumvit Road, Sathorn Road and Narathiwat Road, however, it remains unknown to most travelers. Bang Krachao is nothing like the tropical paradise of Koh Lipe or Koh Kood. However, it is unique and amazing in its own right. Bang Krachao is actually a man-made island located in the Chao Praya River. Years ago a canal was cut allowing cargo boats to shorten their journey along the river. Bang Krachao is commonly referred to as the "Lung of Bangkok", this is due to the huge amount of trees which eat up the city’s air pollution. There are thousands of mangrove trees around the perimeter of the island and plenty more jungle within the island itself. In a rapidly developing city, Bang Krachao is one place which has managed to withstand change. So, you better visit before it’s too late!
  • Wat Bang Nam Phueng Nok
Although we absolutely don't stop at every temple we pass by, there are some temples/sights stopping for and not mentioned in the list of "attractions" in the area. We'll stop at a local Hindu statue/temple, have a meal at a local restaurant and much much more. Let us surprise you
  • Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park And Botanical Garden
Sri Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden is located in Bang Kachao Sub-District, Samut Prakan Province with an area over 200 Rai. This place was established for being the source production of fresh air, the public park for relaxing and exercising for the people. Also, it is a place for ecosystem education on plant species and animals both local and within nearby area. Therefore, it compares as one of an oasis for the city people who want to experience nature, the local way of life and escaping Bangkok’s chaos. The garden’s characteristic is a combination of public parks that the landscape has been arranged beautifully. It consists of aquatic plants, local plants that are able to grow within brackish water and preserve the original agricultural garden which was the original fruit garden. This park and botanical garden is a Greenfield that the government declared to be “the lungs of Bangkok.” A wooden bridge is for visitors to stroll on peaceful and shady area, including the 7 meters high tower view that can capture the whole scenery of this area. Other than the botanic garden, there is so Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market which opens every Saturday and Sunday (we visit this on our Weekend edition).
