This city is famous for its striking visual contrasts, where Ottoman history sits right across the river from grand, modern neoclassical architecture. You will have approximately 1.5 hours to explore the city's historic core and grab something to eat. Your guide will lead you across the iconic Stone Bridge—a 15th-century landmark that links the old and new worlds of Skopje. On one side, you’ll marvel at Macedonia Square, dedicated to Alexander the Great and his family. On the other side, you’ll step straight back in time as you wander the cobblestone alleys of the Old Bazaar, the second-largest Ottoman-era market in the Balkans. This is the perfect window to sample authentic local cevapi (grilled minced meat) or sip traditional Turkish tea for a quick, delicious lunch. After this short exploration, you will meet the rest of the group to depart for Sofia.
