(That is old for us) After exploring the hotel we can marvel at the waterfall below. The viewpoints from Tunnel Mountain are grand and second to none! Blue glacial lakes and views and the powerful pull to mountains we have known for centuries. Graham and I attend the Ice Magic Festival nearly every year and love the winter wonderland atmosphere. Ice skating and snowshoeing on the frozen lake are must-dos, plus you can enjoy a drink or hot maple syrup on a stick at the Ice Bar. Dress warmly with layers, mitts, scarves, and hats so you can enjoy every moment. After exploring the sculptures, stop by the Lakeview Lounge at the Chateau Lake Louise for a cozy appetizer and hot toddy. Don’t forget your skates—rent from Wilson Mountain Sports to glide around the iconic ice castle by the shoreline. Winter magic awaits!

Banff National ParkA short walk around the little lake is an old hermits cabin! Welcome to the intriguing tale of Billy Carver, a man whose life in Banff is shrouded in mystery. For 27 years, he lived alone in a hidden cabin by Johnson Lake, choosing solitude over society. Speculation surrounds his reclusive lifestyle, but investigations revealed no legal reasons for his seclusion. Billy built his cozy cabin in 1910, equipped with handmade furniture and a small stove. His only connection to the outside world was Gee Moy, who brought him supplies from the Market Garden, keeping him hidden from the bustling town. In December 1937, two local boys found Billy in distress and alerted the authorities. He was taken to an old-age home, where he later passed away. Yet, his spirit is said to linger; many claim to have spotted a ghostly figure near the cabin. Could it be Billy himself, still watching over his beloved retreat? Join us as we uncover the secrets of Billy’s haunted cabin!
