Robert Gould Shaw and the 54th Regiment MemorialThe Robert Gould Shaw and Massachusetts 54th Regiment Memorial is dedicated to one of the first African American regiments of the Civil War. The monument is considered to be one of the finest pieces of American art. It is a bronze, high-relief sculpture depicting Colonel Shaw leading the regiment down Beacon Street to join Union forces in the South.
