  • Skagway Alaska Downtown
Downtown Skagway is a US National Park with dozens of Klondike Gold Rush-era historic buildings and exhibits. from there, we proceed up over the White Pass on the spectacular South Klondike Highway. En route to Emerald Lake, we make many stops for photos, search for wildlife, spot Mountain Goats, waterfalls, enormous lakes like Tutshi, Tagish and Bennett. Guide know the road very well, he's been doing tours here since 1992, longer than anyone else. The tour is totally customizable and flexible. Weather permitting, I have a couple of short hikes and secret spots where no one else goes. This tour can also stop at a Husky Camp where you will meet veterans of the famous 1000-mile Iditarod sled dog race. Another optional stop is at the Yukon Suspension Bridge, which spans the Class 5 Tutshi River. We will visit the Native Village of Carcross Yukon for lunch and you'll have time for shopping, beach walking and more.
  • Yukon Suspension Bridge
The Yukon Suspension bridge is located 25 miles north of Skagway. It's a spectacular location, and a well-managed facility with a cafeteria, gift shops, and the only running water restrooms on the highway. (there are also outhouses along the way if you choose not to visit the bridge) Admission if you're with me is half price, just $11 CAD This stop is optional, and we usually visit the bridge on the way back to Skagway.
  • Carcross
Carcross is a small Native village 70 miles North of Skagway, and the Tlingit and Tagish First Natilons people have been there for thousands of years. Set in an amazing location on the narrows between Lake Bennett and Lake Tagish, Carcross (Caribou Crossing) With two excellent restaurants and a number of small galleries, you can shop for locally made items. My friend Richard, from Quebec, is a passionate purveyor of all things Maple and also showcases local products made from Yukon flowers and berries, he puts on a little "maple show". Native artwork including a beautiful Totem Pole showcase the long history and traditions of the Native people of the Yukon. We usually stop for 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the guests preferences.
  • Carcross Desert
Get ready to be surprised to see sand dunes in the Yukon Territory! It's not really a desert, it's a 50,000 year-old beach. The remnants of a vast post-glacial lake that covered much of the area around Carcross. You will be very surprised.
  • Emerald Lake
Located about 5 miles North of Carcross, this is our turnaround point in the tour. The colors are a mix of deep greens and blues, caused by the reflection of the sun off the bottom of the shallow lake. It's small, but you'll most likely take a lot of. photos.
  • Wild Adventure Yukon
Wild Adventure Yukon (formerly Caribou Crossings) is where we get to meet genuine professional Sled Dogs and Mushers. Guests can cuddle with puppies, visit the petting zoo, and also two excellent museums. Guide will take guests to this Husky Camp because he appreciate the care given to the dogs. They want to RUN, it's literally in their blood. These dogs are capable of running 100 miles per day, for 10 days, and they sometimes run another race one week later. They are AMAZING athletes. Admission is $15 CAD (about $10 USD). If you would like to take a ride with the racing Huskies, they will be ready to pull you around a course through the woods, and learn all about racing, the dogs, race strategy and a lot more. Price for a cart ride (no snow in summer) is only $50 CAD, about $32 USD. With the exchange rate hovering around 30%, visiting and shopping in Canada is very reasonable these days.
