Hierapolis & PamukkaleYou will have the chance to stroll along the antique resort city Hierapolis. The resort Hierapolis used to be there, it was repeatedly visited by the Roman emperors. Among all the landmarks, the residues of the Roman streets, the Apollo temple, Plutonium, the Roman thermal baths, the amphitheater and the biggest Turkish necropolis have survived to these days. PamukkalePeople say “The one, who doesn’t visit Pamukkale, doesn’t visit Turkey.” And it’s hard to argue with this statement. It is a unique nature phenomenon! It is the thermal resort, formed a couple of thousands years ago. The calcium-rich water flew down the hillside and created pearly white terraces and small pools. The healing powers of these waters were famous from the ancient times. It is recommended to use the hot springs for treating such diseases like nervous disorders, rheumatism, eyes and skin diseases, indigestion etc. In translation from Turkish, the word “Pamukkale” means “the cotton castle”. In Pamukkale you can bathe in the pearly white travertines and take the bright photos “in the snow” or “in the salt”, as tourists call this place.
