Built for Sultan Abdülaziz by Sarkis Balyan between 1861 and 1865, it served as a luxurious summer retreat and state guesthouse. Blending Neo-Baroque with Ottoman elements, the palace boasts a gleaming white marble exterior and opulent interiors filled with Hereke carpets and crystal chandeliers. It hosted notable figures like Empress Eugénie of France and the Prince of Wales, highlighting its diplomatic importance. Later, it was the final residence of Sultan Abdülhamid II. From this vantage point, you'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Istanbul's Golden Horn. To reach the top, we'll take a scenic ride on the Pierre Loti Cable Car (TF2 Eyüp – Piyerloti teleferik hattı). This cable car line, which opened in 2005, offers a unique and enjoyable way to ascend the hill, providing stunning views along the way. The ride is short, about 2 minutes and 45 seconds, and each cabin holds about 8 passengers. The cable car was built to make it easier for visitors to reach the hill, avoiding a walk through the Eyüp cemetery.
