Full-Day Matanuska Glacier Small-Group Excursion
Overview
The Matanuska Glacier, known as the largest glacier in Alaska with road access, offers an impressive hiking experience. Participants will hike on the glacier for two to two and a half hours, covering approximately 2 to 3 miles.
- 🧗♂️ The hike difficulty is rated as moderate, with little elevation change.
- 🚗 A two-hour drive from Anchorage includes a restroom break at the halfway point.
- ☕ During the break, you can purchase coffee and snacks.
- 💧 Bottled water is provided for all participants.

Pickup included
- Gratuities for your guide on the glacier are included.
- Pictures from your guide. Any photos we take will be made available to you free of charge.
- Available at our half-way stop in the morning.

- We'll stop on our way to the glacier, where guests will be able to purchase lunch. There is a cooler onboard the van to keep food fresh while we're on the glacier.

Matanuska GlacierAlong the 2 hour drive to the Glacier, bear, moose, owls, eagles, foxes and porcupines are all possible to see. And along the way there are also many beautiful panoramic pictures to take.
- The Alaska Native people of Chickaloon are a mixture of Ahtna and Dena'ina Athabaskan. This is a small town where we will see a few shops, churches and homes. (pass by)
- Sutton is a small town located on the Glenn Highway between Palmer and Glennallen, and a convenient place to fill up on gas and snacks for visitors headed to attractions like Matanuska Glacier and Sheep Mountain.On our way to the Matanuska Glacier (pass by)
