Overview

Lebanon has been making wine for over 6,000 years — longer than France, longer than Italy, longer than almost anywhere on earth. The Bekaa Valley, sitting at 1,000 metres above sea level between two mountain ranges, is where that ancient tradition lives today. This private guided tour from Beirut takes you to three of its most celebrated estates — Chateau Saint Thomas, Chateau Kefraya, and Chateau Ksara — for guided cellar tours and tastings that reveal the full depth and variety of what Lebanese wine can be.
Three wineries. Three completely different stories. One private day in the valley that has been producing wine since before the birth of civilisation as we know it — with a professional guide who makes every cellar, every vintage, and every glass mean something.

  • 9.00 AM — Departure from Beirut Your professional guide and driver collect you from your Beirut hotel and head east on the Damascus highway — climbing through the Lebanese mountains as the Bekaa Valley opens dramatically below, its vineyards and orchards stretching between two mountain ranges under the high Bekaa sun. (pass by)
  • Chateau St Thomas
Begin at Chateau Saint Thomas — one of the Bekaa Valley's most respected family-owned estates, producing wines from vineyards sitting at over 1,000 metres altitude. The combination of high elevation, cool nights, and intense Bekaa sunshine creates growing conditions of remarkable complexity — producing wines that consistently punch above their weight on the international stage. The guided cellar tour takes you through the winemaking process from grape to bottle, and the tasting that follows showcases their acclaimed Cabernet Sauvignon, full-bodied red blends, and elegant whites that have earned medals at international competitions. A quietly impressive opening to the day — and a winery that often surprises visitors who arrive expecting something smaller.
  • Chateau Kefraya
Continue to Chateau Kefraya — one of the largest and most celebrated wine estates in Lebanon, with over 300 hectares of vineyards sprawling across the Bekaa plain. Kefraya is renowned for its flagship red blend Comte de M — widely considered one of the finest wines produced in the Middle East and a wine that has earned serious critical attention from international publications. The guided tour moves through the vast cellars and barrel rooms before a structured tasting that showcases the estate's full range — from the powerful Comte de M to the aromatic whites and the celebrated Muse rosé. For wine lovers, this is the Bekaa Valley at its most impressive.
  • Chateau Ksara
The final winery is Chateau Ksara — the oldest and most storied in Lebanon, founded by Jesuit monks in 1857 and now the country's largest wine producer. The highlight here is unlike anything at the previous two estates — an extraordinary Roman cave cellar system stretching 2 kilometres beneath the winery, discovered by the Jesuits in the late 19th century and used ever since to age wine at a naturally constant temperature year-round. Walking through these ancient tunnels after a full day of Bekaa wine is one of the most memorable cellar experiences in the entire wine world — part archaeology, part sensory experience, entirely Lebanese. The tasting showcases Ksara's iconic Cabernet-Syrah blends, crisp Blanc de Blancs, and beloved Sunset Rosé to close a day that has taken you through three very different expressions of what the Bekaa can produce.
  • Zahle
Lunch in Zahle — the Bride of the Bekaa End the day in Zahle — Lebanon's most celebrated food and wine destination, known as the Bride of the Bekaa. The famous restaurant terraces along the Bardawni River serve some of the finest Lebanese mezze in the country — generous spreads of cold and hot dishes, grilled meats, fresh bread, and local wine with the cool Bekaa mountain air and the sound of the river below. After three cellar tours and three tastings, lunch in Zahle is the only way the day should end.
  • Return to Beirut — approx. 5:30–6:00 PM Scenic drive back over the Lebanese mountains with drop-off at your Beirut hotel — completing a full day through three of the Bekaa Valley's finest wine estates and one of the world's oldest wine-producing regions. (pass by)
