Kosgoda Sea Turtle Conservation ProjectSightseeing | Release the Baby Turtle to Sea | Educational Program Sea Turtles have been referred as one of the most fascinated animals in the world and that evolve since late Jurassic period and habitat in the sea as well beach dunes. Matured female sea turtles migrate to land (Beach) for lay their eggs and typical clutch contains 50 to 350 eggs averagely and then they return to ocean. These soft shelled eggs are deep in 20cm to 40cm circular holes in the sand and eggs will incubate for 50–60 days and then baby sea turtles break free of the egg shell dig through the sand and crawl into their sea home. In Sri Lanka, sea turtles are conserved due to many reasons as protect them from many natural predators and the humans as well. South west coast is a most popular home for many different sea turtles species and Kosgoda in one of major places among them. There are lot of volunteering missions are involving for conservation projects under license of National Wildlife Conservation of Sri Lanka and you may engage in volunteering for protection projects or contribute your participation in different ways.
